For those of us of a certain age, Asia’s “Heat Of The Moment” is one of those anthemic songs from the glory days of rock. Asia’s debut album was released in 1982, and now, 30 years on, we have ‘XXX’ which is Roman Numerals for 30, and that can’t just be coincidence.

MP3 CBR 320 | 19.5gb (approx 150mb per album) | Hit & miss artwork included
Soul | Goldmine/Soul Supply | 5% recovery record | Source: internet

I have a collection of 126 titles (133 CDs) issued by Goldmine/Soul Supply record company. This is not a box set but rather it is a collection of albums that are similar in that they all are rare soul compilations by the same company. There are some tracks that are on more than one album but considering the scope and magnitude of this collection, the number of duplicated tracks is small. Some CDs have good artwork, some have none, most have some artwork of varying quality. All are 320 CBR MP3 and are fully tagged. Original post now has added CDs and somewhat improved artwork.

This band's debut may well have been one of the most amazing and radical records to be released during the punk era (or any era for that matter), recorded under the most extreme conditions in the years before punk rock was a reality (1973-1974). Prague's Plastic People of the Universe, and the band they later became, Pulnoc, remain one of rock & roll's great stories of triumph and how great music can be produced and survive even in the most hostile of environments...

Guy Livingston: Don't Panic! 60 Seconds for Piano (2001)

Guy Livingston: Don't Panic! 60 Seconds for Piano 2001
Classical | EAC (APE & CUE) | 189 MB

"Ensembles that play only new music are plentiful these days, but soloists who play recitals devoted entirely to newly commissioned works are scarce enough to seem heroic or eccentric, or perhaps a bit of both. Guy Livingston, an American pianist who lives in Paris, has assembled a program of recent works that may be quirky enough to appeal to listeners who have doubts about modern musical language"
The New York Times

Guy Livingston opened Solo Flights/ Keyboard Summit with Don't Panic: 60 seconds for piano, an incomparable one-man show culled from the pianist's collection of 1-minute works, on 14 February 2003. This is the brilliant new performance created by American pianist Guy Livingston to showcase the endless possibilities of contemporary music. Many of the pieces are amplified or for piano and tape. They use new techniques and range from modern-classical works through virtuosic-serialism to unsettling performance-art. All are premieres written for Livingston. Livingston presents the pieces in sets of 4 or 5 at a time, punctuated by anecdotes about the composers and the genesis of these works. The framework is theatrically exciting and musically innovative. Although one minute seems like an unbelievably short time, it actually offers the composers a good deal of scope. An entire atmosphere can be established (or destroyed) in 60 seconds. The program offers a wide-ranging sampler of new music styles from the most traditional classical up to cutting-edge avant-garde.

Guy Livingston: Don't Panic! 60 Seconds for Piano
Classical | EAC (APE & CUE) | Wergo (2001) | 2 parts / 189 MB

Guy Livingston created this stunningly original CD by commissioning 60 composers from 18 countries to write new works for piano. The commission fee: a bottle of Jack Daniels. The only constraints, as specified by Guy, were that the piece be under 60 seconds in length, and that the audience not be endangered in any way.

Patrick Moraz - Out in the Sun (1977) [Remastered 2006]

Out In The Sun is Patrick’s second solo album and comes from 1977. It was recorded in Switzerland and Brazil and was recorded shortly after Patrick left Yes.
As with The Story Of I the album has a very percussive feel throughout although the album is made up of eight individual pieces rather than the thematic piece that was The Story Of I. Featured tracks include Out In The Sun, Tentacles, Kabal and Silver Screen. As with the other solo albums in this series of re issues Patrick Moraz has personally overseen the re mastering of this album.

Nikos Skalkottas - Piano Music [Nikolaos Samaltanos]

Nikos Skalkottas - Piano Music [Nikolaos Samaltanos]
Classical | EAC: FLAC+Cue+Log | 2 Cd, Covers | 398 Mb
Date: 2001

Sixty-one years after its completion, Skalkottas' Musik für Klavier -the overal title of his 32 Piano Pieces - can assume its place among the major piano cycles of the 20th century. Formidably difficult technically, its
apparently disparate content - there is not the conceptual focus of, say, Messiaen's Vingt regagds sur l'enfant Jésus - may have militated against its wider recognition. So itis a tribute to Nikolaos Samaltanos, in this first complete recording, that he projects the work as an integral entity. and as the compendium of mid-century pianism that the composer intended..........A timely release urgently recommended.

India's greatest director, Bengalese Satyajit Ray was recipient of numerous awards in his career. Typical of the styling of cinema he created, he kept them unceremoniously out of view under his bed, aware of the lavish presentation they would make displayed out in the more public rooms of his Calcutta home. This noble air of subtlety is also apparent in his film-making with Jalsaghar (The Music Room) being a perfect example.
The film's major character is Huzur Biswambhar Roy who is a zemindar (the now ancient concept of an aristocratic landlord). He is shown as a tragic figure who is both a victim of his selfish pride and superfluous belief in his own nobility.
Ray has made a profound and magnificent exploration of one man's obsolescence in a modern developing society in 1920's India.
